Partial Dashboard Rendering

Beta Feature

Partial Dashboard Rendering is a beta feature. Its behavior and available settings may change in future releases. Do not use it in a production environment.

Partial dashboard rendering keeps a dashboard open when it contains something the viewer cannot access. Unavailable widgets and filters stay in their place on the layout. The rest of the dashboard renders.

On a workspace where this feature is enabled, a restricted dependency cannot make the dashboard inaccessible.

Unavailable Widgets

A widget shows as unavailable when the viewer cannot access its visualization, a metric it uses, or a fact, attribute, or attribute label in that chain. The widget keeps its position. Other widgets render normally.

If every widget is unavailable, the dashboard still opens.

A dashboard that is itself restricted, and that has not been shared with the viewer, still returns 404 Not Found.

Unavailable Filters

A dashboard filter built on a restricted attribute is not applied. The filter shows as unavailable. Each widget that used the filter indicates that it is shown without that filter. The indication sits with the widget.

What Still Renders in Full

Numbers on the dashboard are the same numbers the viewer would get by computing that widget directly. A metric or visualization the viewer cannot access is unavailable as a whole. GoodData does not return a partial metric value or leave a series out of a chart.
